There's a Seinfeld episode about that.
?? About Reese Witherspoon in Four Christmases?!

Watched HP HBP last night and am watching it again tonight. I think it's my 2nd favorite (after OotP)
Also watched Road to Perdition with Tom Hank (more clearing off my DVr) and realized again what a great actor Tom Hanks is and remembered how much I loved the movie when I saw it in the theater.

The Book Of Eli.
This is the most hopeful tale of apocalyptic doom I think I've ever seen. The mood is somber, but I left the theatre in good spirits. It's not unflawed as a film, but I absolutely love that there are so many unspoken moments in this. If you see it, you'll know what I mean. It's powerful. As any movie about the keeper of the last bible on earth should be. Bravo to the Hughes Brothers, who's last movie was From Hell....a very under-rated piece of art about Jack The Ripper...starring everyone's favorite pirate, Johnny Depp...that everyone seemed to hate. I hope these guys get to make more movies more than once a decade.

The Brothers Bloom--i really liked this one a lot. I don't think it got much hype when it was out, but I really enjoyed it. Adrian Brody is a fav of mine.
Facing the Giants--lame acting, and bizarre to be seeing such a blatant Christian message in a film, but the message itself is very good.

About a girl who looks alternatively pretty and not pretty, depending on the angle.meether369 wrote:JamesWilliams wrote:meether369 wrote:I don't know what was going on, but there were times in the movie that Reese Witherspoon looked SO weird! I don't know why, bu I had a really hard time with this movie and never even finished it... I'm going to try again though, because it SHOULD be a movie I would enjoy.

Moon is a little-known movie which has been on DVD only a few weeks now. It's basically got one actor the entire movie, although 7 or 8 others have brief appearances. It's a very original storyline, and the direction really makes you feel isolated, as the main character is isolated on his moonbase. Well-directed, well-acted, and a good story. With no car chases. I highly recommend it.

Up in the Air. Pretty good. Kind of a strange takeaway. I didn't want to see it initially, but then people kept talking about how good it was, so I went. But, I don't think it lived up to the hype for me. Although, looking at George Clooney for a couple hours made up for it.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I lost so much respect for Clooney when he made fun of another actor's Alzheimer's (and then later justified it because that actor is a former president of the NRA) that I can't take him seriously in any film. He really crossed a line for me.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
When did he do that?

In receiving a special filmmaking achievement award from the National Board of Reviews, actor George Clooney joked that "Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer's."
Clooney still had a chance to apologize for the bad humor day. When questioned about the remark by New York Newsday, Clooney sputtered: "I don't care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him."

Ahh, ok. Definitely off-color. It's sad how people treat one another.
But, goodness, MT, I am surprised you posted that first article. The subtitle of it is ATROCIOUS!!!

About Clooney being the angriest man in Hollywood? Not that far off, you know.meether369 wrote:But, goodness, MT, I am surprised you posted that first article. The subtitle of it is ATROCIOUS!!!
But I got that story from a link in the Wiki article. The quote about Heston deserving whatever he gets was widely reported when it happened, so I could have gotten it from lots of places.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
"Actor's become angriest man in Hollywood"
Apostrophe indicates possessive--what is the actor's in this sentence?
Subject/Verb confusion--if it is one actor/one man, it should be becomes.
As written, the sentence makes not a lick of sense!

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
Apostrophe also indicates an abbreviation. In this case, "Actor has become".....
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
No, not when used with a noun. Apostrophe use with a noun always indicates possessive.
Even if it were that, it should be "men" because there is more than one actor.
Or, if it were "Actor is", but contracted as you say (but which doesn't happen), then it should be "becoming" instead of "become."

You've never heard anyone say something to the effect of "that actor has become the angriest man in Hollywood" ? And you've never seen a noun followed by "has" abbreviated like that? May not be correct grammar, but I've seen it a lot. I've said it a lot.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
There is no "that" in the example given. If it were there is would definitely call for a "has" whether contracted or not. But, there's (there is, there) no "that"...
And no, I have never seen the word "has" contracted with a noun using an apostrophe. If you've seen it done, it's (it is, there) wrong. Sorry.
To be perfectly honest, I am having a hard time thinking of any examples of has being used in a contraction, and am off to look it up.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
If something is grammatically incorrect, I could see your point that I might have said something. But I think the "that" was implied.
Plus, I usually keep my mouth shut when I see the hundred or so uses of made-up words like "alot" here.

Wow, now that sounds like an intersting movie review....
