In the interest of getting something 'stirred up'
Where did Jesus disappear to between the ages of 12 and 30?
Re: In the interest of getting something 'stirred up'
I saw a movie once that talked about him growing up and getting married during that time.

he was sowing his wild oats.TheGreat&TerribleBob wrote:Where did Jesus disappear to between the ages of 12 and 30?
I don't know, I suppose he was learning the Jewih traditions as all young Jewish men do?
I had also heard the speculation that he was married, Pete.

Wasn't he at the temple a lot learning the ways of his Father?

Not after age 12. At least not in my Bible.

My ex-father-in-law believed he traveled to the far east and picked up Budhist beliefs which he then formed into Christianity.

Luke 2:51-52 says that he went to Nazareth, grew up, and increased in wisdom under his parents and God.
"51 And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart.
52 And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men."

But there's no account of anything he did after he left with his parents.
Somewhere in Luke 1 (I'm too lazy to look it up) it says that he went off into the wilderness until he appeared to Israel, or made himself known to Israel or something like that.
It's just strange from that time until he started his ministry eighteen years later, there's not much mention of anything.
Buddhist? Yikes!

Found it....
Luke 1:80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel.

So wouldn't that just be a time of preperation for the worlds awesomest public ministry?

I guess. It just seems strange that there's such an information void for so many years.

Maybe it was boring stuff, like...Jesus washed his robe in the Jordan, again. Jesus ate a locust, it was rotten. Maybe it was like biblical tweeting. Occasionally interesting but sometimes just a lot of excess information.

It's really quite obvious, isn't it?
"...and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel" = he moved to nyc to try to become a famous jazz saxophonist. When that didn't pan out the way he hoped, he returned to pursue a more reasonable goal: saving all of humanity.

You're a year late if that was your goal too
