Re: Al & Tipper Gore
Al Gore is not one of my favorites, but it's a shame that a 40 year relationship can end.
Who the hell names their kid 'Tipper'? Or maybe she got that name in high school or college cuz she was a big drinker and was always tipping a few.

Just seems odd to me. I mean, you've been with this person for 40 years! Its probably only a couple more til the Life Insurance kicks in, you know?! What could be so horrible now? Its sad.

I agree. It's also sad that in many marriage conferences and books, Al Gore gets quoted. At his father's funeral, he said the best thing his dad ever did was to love his mother.meether369 wrote:Just seems odd to me. I mean, you've been with this person for 40 years! Re: Al & Tipper Gore
A few weeks back, I saw that Al Gore is building a 9,000 square foot house on the beach in CA. They were busting his ass for being a hypocrite about his environmental stance by building directly on the water, which I guess he had been against previously.
Maybe he found a new roomie to share his little cottage with.

Re: Al & Tipper Gore
and really, who knows?
When my dad was sick, and he was hiding it from my mom, she was ready to divorce him....he was so difficult to live with. And really it was because he was scared....but she didn't know that, until the diagnosis. Of course they stayed together, and I don't think she really would have...but she was pretty fed up with him at some points.
So, it really isn't for us to judge....you never know.

I am not judging, it just seems like it must be something really big if, after 40 years, they can't make it work for the next bit. The hard part should be behind them! But, I guess marriage is never easy.

Re: Al & Tipper Gore
This is CLASSIC! I heard this morning that they're blaming George Bush because their marriage was never the same after losing the election to him.
Why does that make perfect sense to me?

Re: Al & Tipper Gore
Actually, they didn't. A CBS story blamed the loss to Bush, said that things were never the same after that. But the Gores never said any such thing publicly.
Re: Al & Tipper Gore
One of the radio shows I listen to posted something about it on facebook... and the responses they got were sad.... it's sad how cynical people are about marriage... and how untrusting women are of men... most women who posted said that he probably was too worried about himself. I think that is an unfair statement to make.

Ah, the play on words with the naughty term "bush". You'd make a good 14-yr-old, Bob.TheGreat&TerribleBob wrote:Hmmmmmm! So it WAS Bush! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Clearly. I'm sad I didn't think of it first.TheGreat&TerribleBob wrote:You're just jealous of my cleverosity.

I would be jealous you didn't make up the word, cleverosity, while you're at it, MT.

Glad you liked my word. I thought it flowed better than jealousiosity. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
