I feel so out of the loop (and old!)
I just got an email from Tribute Books in Archibald, PA. I've never heard of them nor have I heard of Archibald, PA.
They want me to write a review of a book they're publishing, Why God Matters: How to Recognize Him in Daily Life . They got my contact info from Twitter (it FINALLY produced something useful for me!) and they linked to my website. They think I'll be a good fit to review this book.
I said I'd do it and they're sending me a review copy and asked if I'd like to schedule a date in September for their Blog Tour.
I emailed them back and told them that I guess my age is showing because I have no clue what a Blog Tour is.
They emailed me back the following: A blog tour is usually a month in length. Every weekday during the month, a different blog posts a review of the book. We promote each stop and drive readers to your site with the URL link of the review you provide.
Anyway - I'm doing it and will be blogging on Sept 27th.
I DO feel old after this experience - but I'll get over it - Not BEING old(er), but FEELING old.

If it makes you feel better.... I've never heard of a blog tour either.

Thanks, Katy. That does help.

I know about it. But I'm young and hip
(Actually I know about it because I follow blogs that typically review the books and blog about it...and you know...I'm pretty sure James is one of them so clearly I'm the most caring because I read his blog and know that )

I read blogs that review books too... but I've never heard them use the phrase "blog tour"

Well what have we resolved here - Katy and I are clueless - JW knows that Erie blogs - and TB is cool and hip.
I guess we're all set now.

Will you let us know when your blog is ready to read?

Of course. I've always been a proponent of shameless self-promotion.
I learned it from Erie.

What's a "blog?"

It has nothing to do with bondage so I'm sure it would be of no interest to you.

I'm hoping the book is good.
The one thing that concerns me is that if the book is bad, I have to say that it's bad - and since the publisher contacted me to write the review - what does that do to our future relationship?

It shouldn't do anything to it. That's the way these things work.
Constructive criticism is a part of any review. Just make sure it's constructive and there shouldn't be (which I realized still might not happen) but as long as they're professionals there shouldn't be any negative impact.

I didn't know what it was either, Bob....but the fact that your on a blog tour should let you know your only as old as you feel. That's cool!

It's funny that you say that, Ang. I've never really felt 'old' - with the exception of the inevitable added aches and pains of the aging process - and seeing that older version of me looking back at me in the mirror. I've always been 'young at heart'.
My parents and their peers seemed 'old' at a much younger age. I'm not sure what the reason for that is. Maybe it's a generational thing - the way the world was in their time as opposed to how it is now.
