Re: BLJ Movie
It is kinda sad, but I couldn't really ever figure out how it would work as a movie, though.

Agreed, Mel.
I think it was a very good book, but would have made a fairly dull movie - unless it was totally 'Hollywooded up', and then it wouldn't have really been BLJ - but I would have liked to have had the opportunity to at least see it and judge for myself.
Re: BLJ Movie
It's not only sad that we won't get to see it (at least anytime soon)... it's also sad that it's a dream being put on hold for writers.

I didn't really "feel" the things they were going to change that DM was talking about in AMillionMiles. Sounded to be "hollywooding it up."

Re: BLJ Movie
I can't believe they're asking for donations. Do the donors get a cut of the potential profits? Where does the $$ go if the movie doesn't get made? It may be spelled out, but I didn't read it all.
The whole concept seems a little bizarre to me, unless there's something in it for the donors. This IS a commercial venture - correct?.

Re: BLJ Movie
The cool thing about Kickstarter is that no money changes hands unless the total amount needed to make the movie is reached. I have a friend who used it to make his debut cd. He needed 10,000 dollars to make it and started one of these kickstarter pages and was able to raise the money. I think it's kind of a cool way for artists, who don't have the funds to produce their art, to see if there are people out there who believe in them enough to help out.
Oh, and there are incentives. For my friend, I donated 20 bucks and that meant that I got a free copy of the cd when it came out. You can see the incentives for donating to the BLJ movie on the right side of the screen here:

Wow, looks like we'll get a BLJ movie after all!
They just crossed the $125,000 mark with 19 days left to go:

We don't have Jack-in-the-Box here so it really wasn't that much of a sacrifice - although when we lived in Phoenix, I did eat more than my share of Double Jumbo Jack's with Cheese and Super Tacos.

First place I could think of. Could have said Chick Fil A or McDonalds. Or Wendys.Bethany wrote:Isn't Jack in the Box the place that poisoned everyone a few years back?
Re: BLJ Movie
Wow, so the campaign ended last night with 4,495 people donating a total of $345,992. Wild. Filming starts tomorrow.

The trailer's up:

Not sure what I think. I was hoping to be more excited by it or find it more interesting looking. I think there's some potential for cheesiness, or suckyness. Hope I'm wrong and that the movie kicks ass. Still excited to see it.
Oh, and I'm not sure why I'm posting this here - does anyone even come on here anymore? Hello??? Is there anybody out there????

Re: BLJ Movie
Ahh, good to know I'm not alone!
I showed the trailer to Megan to get an unbiased view and she thought it looked like it might be pretty bad. I hope it's just the trailer and that the movie itself is really good.
I gotta say, though, that the line "...get in the closet baptist boy" seems like one of the most unbelievable pieces of dialogue I've heard in recent times. Hopefully, seeing it in context will make it not so bad.
Oh, and in other Don-related news, I guess he got engaged.
