No he can't handle a gay thread. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)
Also, I would like to say that I really liked this thread and how everything "went down"
Pete I'm so proud of you for being able to now hear and read the words people actually say instead of hearing/reading the words that come out of the baggage in your head or the baggage that others less kind and loving have thrust upon you.
JW, I too really admire and respect the way that you handle conflict and differing view points. I think it's quite commendable the way you can have open discussion without having to beat the other person into submission or attack them personally.
Mel, Ang, Katy...well I just love you girls so much and hopefully you already know that.
Bob...well I love you too even if you're only using me as a conduit to Pete.

If you were paying attention, I was the one that encouraged Pete to voice his feelings, which launched this thread. I posted two very serious responses and I think I handled it quite well for my part - thank you very much.
Since then, others have used humor throughout the thread, because I guess the 'meat' of the conversation was over.
I used humor in my sermons to get across very serious points. It's who I am. It works. Lighten up!

Don't mind Bob... he's still cranky that he didn't know there weren't ducks in Alaska.

You should know I was smiling when I posted that. I should consider using those smiley things.
Nah.

Stop being funny, Katrina. It's not allowed.

Oh. Sorry. Being a bad-ass Texan, I assumed you were stirring up trouble
See - the smilies have their purpose.

Seriously though - it really helps to let people know where you're coming from - your tone. It's so hard to read peoples tone in posts or emails - nearly impossible.
I've seen huge battles break out on the old forum just because someone misread anothers tone. That's why I try to use them if I feel they're needed.

No offense bob... but we have no idea how old any nuts you offer are and we're afraid they've gone rancid.

Re: Christianity and Homosexuality
Hey Pete,
Haven't been around much and just read all this. Beautiful post. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough here that you could open up. Cool also to know that there's a real community here, one that can love and support each other, especially when opening up about something that can be scary to let out there. Oh, and just for the record, this doesn't change a thing from my perspective. I still love and respect you as much as ever. (In fact, I kind of thought this might have been the case pretty early on.)
I'm hoping the community of folks that is going to be at my wedding in a couple of weeks will be as loving and respectful as this one as there will be a wide range of people there: gay and lesbian couples, muslims, jews, protestants, catholics, atheists, secular humanists, far-right conservatives, far-left liberals, middle-of-the road folks, etc. (I think there could even be a few of those who are the absolute worst of the worst: people who are going to want to do line dances. ) Could be a real chance to build some bridges (or for a bloodbath! ).
thanks again for sharing, Pete.

Re: Christianity and Homosexuality
Thanks for the kind words Dave.
I'm sure everyone will get along just fine at your wedding, it's usually an occasion that brings out the best in people.
As far as the line dancing people........there's no help for them anyway.

Yuh, there's nothing like LOTS of alcohol to bring out the very best in people.
