Winter Wonderland, Carol of the Bells, Silent Night. And a couple other religious ones too, but I have to hear them to remember how much I love them...I can't remember their names...

The Hippopotamus song was sung by a 10 year old girl. I just heard.
I jokingly told a teen at church that it was auto tune before auto tune was hip and he was like...whoa

Oh, I like Whitney Houston's "Drummer Boy" too. Makes me cry every time I hear it.
And Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas."

There was this hilarious Mary Katherine Gallagher sketch on SNL with Whitney Houston and Rosie O'Donnel doing the Little Drummer Boy. I still laugh about it whenever I heard Little Drummer Boy
Re: Favorite Christmas Song(s)
I love John Denver and the Muppets.....the whole album is great! Also, Elvis reminds me of my brother, so I like to listen to his Christmas music, his version of Blue Christmas is my favorite! I love Bing Crosby, White Christmas isn't the same sung by anyone else!
I love the song Mary Did You Know? I think it is really pretty.
And I absolutely love The Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McGlaughlin singing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen with We Three Kings.
I LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!

Hard to pick a favorite as there are so many good ones. I really think that Christmas songs, from a musical/songwriting perspective, are some of the best songs ever written. (Not all of them, of course, but so many of them.)
Lately, I've been enjoying this one a lot:

That's a pretty good song, but again, he relies too heavily on repetition and it starts bothering me.

Then, whatever you do, don't ever listen to Ravel's "Bolero!"

That's the song from the movie '10'. Bo Derek was naked running on the beach. Be still my heart - and other parts.

This isn't too bad. I think it's the vocal repetition that bothers me with Sufjan.

Good lord, no. The dissonance is too hard to take too. I liked the little break it took, but then they got back into a different repetitive rhythm that drove me nuts. Then a high one. Then a low one. Goodness....

So, question. When you go to a show like this, do you stand around acting contemplative and introspective? Or do you try to bob your head along to the ever changing beats? Or do you bring a book and try to read to the 'background' music?
I just really wonder about what I would be required to do if I found myself at a show and that was the kind of music played...

I don't think there's any set way to listen to this kind of music. I mean, you wouldn't swing dance to it or hip hop dance. But some people move to it, bob their head. I think you just try to open yourself up to what they're expressing and however it affects you is how it affects you. Sometimes it will be plain impressive from a musical standpoint. Sometimes it will challenge you (emotionally or intellectually). Some may even cry because they think it's so beautiful or amazing, and yet others may leave early because they dislike it so much. I have an album by this group and I don't listen to it too often. Mostly because it challenges me so. But I'm kind of amazed by what they're able to pull off from a musical standpoint. And I also find that it kind of clenses my ear's palate. Like it's healthy for me to listen to or something. Kind of like when I have difficulty reading Shakespeare because it challenges me, but I'm always glad after I do.
