Don Miller and his can of worms
Don has decided to stop writing cute things about Lucy and other non-controversial topics, and gone for the biggest one of all: homosexuality. I have already commented, although it's not yet published. Once again, to avoid hurting Pete, I reiterate that while I love my gay friends, I think the most unloving thing a Christian can do is pretend something is not sin when it is. So I'm just putting that up front before you read my comment.

Relevant Magazine has an article online about it today too... I'm thinking it's a theme.

I appreciated the blog I think is churchens hide way to many sins. I have felt too ugly or bad or sinfilled to go to church before. Church needs to work on being a better refuge. I think our safe for the family gospel make many feel unworthy for Jesus.
When in reality Jesus welcomes the sinner so that we can find our refuge in his grace and move from our sin to where he wants us to be.

Good point. Homosexuality is an issue that the church over emphasizes because it's easy to do so.
All of the adulterers who hide out in church every Sunday have no issues with proclaiming their Christianity and the church doesn't attack them. Perhaps because the would-be attackers are also partaking in the same sin.

Re: Don Miller and his can of worms
I have been saying for years that Christians shouldn't single out homosexuality as if it's a worse sin than the other stuff the rest of us do, including lust and greed and self-pity and gossip and idolatry.
That said, many who agree with that sentiment swing the other way and want to pretend that your sinful behavior is none of my business and I won't call anything sin. And that's also clearly unbiblical. I'd even say it's unloving.

Swinging the other way aside - homosexuality takes the brunt of the beating. Probably because it deflects the 'pointing finger' from the ones doing the beating.
I totally understand your point JW. I just get very angry at the hypocrites who want to single out the sin (real or perceived) of others while ignoring their own.
It's the whole 'speck in your brothers eye' thing.
