Angie wrote:I like it better than the other Disney princess movies, because Tiana doesn't start out a spoiled brat. And the music in the movies is awesome. Piri is quite obsessed with it at this point...she has her birthday (in November) all planned around it.Katykc wrote:I watched The Princess and the Frog... it was very Disney... but beautiful animation.
I'm not sure there are actally very many princess movies where many of them start out as spoiled brats.. the only one I can think of is sleeping beauty... but I don't really keep up with too many of the princess movies. Beauty and the Beast is still by far my favorite.

Just watched 16 Blocks, with Bruce Willis. So sad to see a story with such good potential get wasted. It just didn't work.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I watched "There Will Be Blood" last night. Although I see why D-D Lewis won Best Actor, that movie's ending has got to be one the all-time worst movie endings ever.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I hated that movie. I didn't connect at all.

Sometimes I get sucked in when a film gets uniformly positive reviews, gets nominated for Best Picture, wins best Actor, etc. And more often than not, I like those films. I agree with Critics and Oscar voters quite often. But they have their weaknesses, and among their blind spots are movies with Daniel-Day Lewis in them.meether369 wrote:I hated that movie. Dude... are you saying that you didn't like The Last of the Mohican's? I mean... seriously... it was him being the last mohican! and he promised his true love that whatever happened... he would find her! (okay, I feel the need to let you know that I haven't seen this movie in it's entirety and I'm just teasing you and was lamely trying to be funny)

I meant just the opposite. I mean that because he has done some quality movies before, then critics are afraid to say that his new one sucks. It's an Emperor's new clothes kinda thing.Katykc wrote:JamesWilliams wrote:Sometimes I get sucked in when a film gets uniformly positive reviews, gets nominated for Best Picture, wins best Actor, etc. And more often than not, I like those films. And technically, he isn't the Last Mohican...he isn't a Mohican at all. It's his father that's the last...

Yes, but not a 'real' one, nor the 'last' one.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
Princess and the Frog--sweet, although, it seemed to have elements of many of the other Disney movies. I loved the music, though! Watching it, though, it kind of broke my heart that these fairytale stories are what we feed the little girls of this world. It's almost worse than sex in every commercial.
The Invention of Lying--didnt like it at all. Gervais was rarely witty and never funny. And I didn't like the religious implications of the message.
Adam--pretty sweet, but not the best acting. The story touched me because of who Adam is, but I don't know if they got it exactly right. Asperger's is hard to act because it is unique to each person.

Yup - many a six-pack of beer has been sold because of some twenty-something young lady in a wet t-shirt and skimpy little shorts washing a car.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
Coco before Chanel--very well done. But, very melancholy and depressing life Coco Chanel had.

I'm not sure how one would define "romantic", but I would guess there are many different takes on the idea. Having said that, I took my wife to see Letter to Juliet, and it was about the most romantic movie I have seen in years.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I want to see that... maybe I will go tomorrow. Good to know it was enjoyable.
I just finished The Time Travelers Wife. I didn't read the book cause I heard it wasn't very good. The movie was good. It was a bit slow, and a little odd... and EXTREMELY sad. Probably not good to watch if you are already an overemotional wreck.

I didn't care for the Time Travelers Wife, the book or the movie
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
The A-Team. AWESOME! Amazing! Astonishing! Ablaze!
Had all the elements--explosion, wit, nitty-gritty, hot bods--to make it a summer blast!

Going by the previews, The A-Team looks like one of the dumbest movies out there. Unless of course you're into explosions, nit-wit, nitty-shitty and hot cross buns. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
