Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I read that Dennis Lehane's book is based on a true story, so I guess that would be a 'yes'.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
The wiki on it says he made it up. But, who knows. Sounds like an interesting story, though.

Eclipse
It was entertaining and better than the first two, but the scene with Bella, Edward and Jacob in the tent reminded me of Brokeback Mountain: Vampire and Wolf edition
Not that there's anything wrong with that

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
Finally getting a chance to catch up on my movie watching. Saw the following this weekend:
Cyrus
Solitary Man
Pineapple Express
They were all good but Cyrus (along with the Joan Rivers documentary) was one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Something has to be wrong with Jonah Hill that his weight can fluctuate like that. It isn't right.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
Megan and I watched "The Visitor" last night. Really beautiful film. Not sure why this film didn't get talked about more. Richard Jenkins was nominated for the Oscar (rightly so) but other than that I didn't hear much about it. Probably because it has no gimmicks. It's a simply told story of relationships, feeling stuck in life, and being jolted out of your comfort zone and into something meaningful.
Part of the reason we rented it is because we're going to be volunteering with this detainee visitation program that's run through a local church and they used a scene from this movie in our training session. Apparantly, the film-makers took part in the same program, and I'm told that they really captured almost exactly what the place is like and what it's like to visit a detainee there.
Anyway, another really good film!

Watched Funny People Thursday night
This morning so far I've watched The Wrestler, City of Angels, The Truman Show, part of 28 days
Now I'm watching Titanic. I'll probably watch HP HBP later, it's on their HBO on demand

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I just watched "The Hurt Locker". How the heck did that thing win Best Picture?
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I thought it was good. Better than Avatar.
I thought it was really intense, and gave a good portrait of a soldier and their 'need to fight'.

I agree with all the above, except I haven't seen Avatar, so I don't take a position on that. It was intense, it was good, and all. But it just wasn't great. Surely something that came out last year was better.
Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I started watching Funny People. I got about a half hour in and got tired about hearing about dicks and penises. So I turned it off and watched Harry Potter.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
I watched Cyrus this weekend, very dark but very hilarious
Dark comedy about a boy with an oedipal complex. Marisa Tomei is the mom, Jonah Hill the kid and John C Reilly the new boyfriend.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
Watched Mozart and the Whale which was disappointing, especially considering how good the book is.
Also, rewatched "A Beautiful Mind." Man, what a powerful movie. I had forgotten just how good it was.

Re: What movie have you seen lately?
We saw Inception last night.
Way too complicated! Too many plots/sub-plots being woven together.
If you saw it and you can honestly say you liked it - that means that you understood it completely. If that's true - you're an effing genius (or you're very warped).
That said - go see it. It'll give you a popsicle headache.

That's actually kind of disconcerting--how can someone's looks change so much?!
I saw Sorcerer's Apprentice today and it is pretty good for the upper elementary boys. I liked it because I like new spins on old stories (in this case, Merlin etc). It isn't Oscar material, but I had a good time!

Well, they put prosthetic ears and fake teeth when they film him.

He's probably gonna spend the rest of his life trying to live down that image!
