What Are You Reading? Empty What Are You Reading?

I'm finishing up Wicked and gosh I love this book! I'm reading Son of a Witch next about Liir. I only read a few chapters of it a few years back so I'm excited to see what's happening with him!

Son of a Witch was a bit harder for me to take. Even darker than Wicked.

I am reading Patrick by Stephen Lawhead about St. Patrick. For some reason, I am more interested in him than I was Robin Hood, but am having a harder time remaining interested in this one.

I am also reading Reordered Love, Reordered Lives by David Naugle which is highly academic and intellectual in sytle and mind-blowing in content. It took me reading on and off all day yesterday to get through one chapter. But, it is the kind of book that resonates to the core of me--good and bad--and makes me hope and pray that the Lord uses the wisdom from its pages to transform who I am. It's a life-changer, definitely. And I would highly recommend it.

Yeah I love it when books are like that and hate it at the same time. Love it because I know it's really perking up parts of my brain and hate it because I can't just charge through and get it done.

There is also a 3rd book in the Oz series called A Lion Among Men about Brrrr the lion that would eventually grow to be the Cowardly Lion

After SoaW, I wasn't interested in the third book. The Cinderella one sort of sparked an interest, but it would probably have to be a while...

They're definitely hard books to get into, especially with the dark qualities. I tried to read Wicked again a year or so ago and just couldn't get back into it. This time however I'm loving it and picking up on things I never did the first time.

I've started to reread Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series...they take place in the Roman empire era and very fascinating.

Finally finished Wicked, now on to Son of a Witch! It's what I'll be reading while the laundry is spinning and I wait for my parents to arrive.

Interrupted my Wicked series re-read by reading The Hunger Games in 6 hours. It is so good.
I'm hoping to read the 2nd book in it's entirety today.

Oh my gosh. Read the 2nd book in this series in 5 hours. So amazingly good. It's young adult fiction, no profanity and no sexytime stuff. Just straight up awesomeness.
Angie, you at least need to read these if not your oldest boys.

My mind is panting from the speed with which I read these books.

The Hunger Games are an annual reminder to the citizens of Panem that they are at the mercy of The Capitol. Panem is a country that has risen from the ashes of North America.
Each of the 12 remaining districts must send 1 boy and 1 girl tribute, between the ages of 12 and 17, to The Hunger Games.
It's a fight to the death, with the last remaining tribute the victor.

Katniss is the protagonist and she is 15 in the book I believe.
She's scrappy Smile

Angie. I am to the Holmes story entitled, "The Musgrave Ritual" and it describes Holmes as quite the rogue and eccentric character. Possibly, the movie is taking some artistic license with this description...

I thought I had the complete works, but I don't know, it seems like it ended oddly and there didn't seem to be 23 tales...and there was nothing about Holmes being intrigued by a woman who out-witted him. So, I don't think I listened to the complete tales. I am going to go look into it now...

Well, it seems I am going to be seeing it Thursday! So, I will see then what I think!

As I listened, I was picturing him like Robert Downey and Watson like Jude Law, so maybe I will feel like the movie is like the books!

Finished The Liar's Club the other night. Amazing. Even better the 2nd time through. Was actually crying on the train ride home as I was reading the final chapter.

Now I'm rereading her 2nd memoir Cherry, dealing with her adolescence. And then it'll be on to her new one, "Lit!"

Also, got 2 new books for Christmas that I'm really excited about:

Makoto Fujimura's "Refractions: A Journey of Faith, Art, and Culture"

and "A Literary Bible: An Original Translation" by David Rosenberg

Ooo! Maybe I will buy a Mary Karr book to read during dinner! Smile

I saw Fujimura at the Festival of Faith and Writing. He is really intriguingly peaceful and enthralling. I truly enjoyed his lecture.

I've decided to read 52 book in 2010.
So far I've read:
A Song I Knew by Heart by Bret Lott
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

Today I'm starting The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Invictus by John Carlin. 2 chapters in, and I want to be a better person.

It's no wonder the movie wasn't about rugby. The book is, at it's heart, a portrait of an amazing human being.

Travels with Charley, Steinbeck. Very interesting. His personal voice is different than his narrative voice. It's very intriguing! And his insights about America in the 60s are interesting today.

The Book of Lost Things, Connolly--a very intriguing concept as well. A boy who begins hearing books speaking after losing his mother.
