Re: What Are You Reading?
I really need something to start reading to them at night. We have gotten away from that habit, and it is sad.

I am partially into it and so far it's just sort of erry, nothing too bad or inappropriate. But, it's a re-telling of a lot of fairy tales. Well, they're mixed into a new story.

You should read them "A Little History of the World." It's the actual history of the world, told very beautifully as a "once upon a time..." story by E.H. Gombrich (best known for his art history book "The Story of Art"). I really enjoyed reading it as an adult, and have also bought it for a lot of parents.

I finally finished my re-reads of Liars' Club and Cherry (both awesome!) and am now on to Mary Karr's new one, Lit!
Also reading "Doubting: Growing Through the Uncertainties of Faith" by Alister E. McGrath.

Re: What Are You Reading?
finished Mary Karr's "Lit" a couple of weeks ago. It was so great! Possibly her best book (and one of the more interesting, moving and powerful conversion stories I've read in a long time).
Now I'm reading Jhumpa Lahiri's "Unacustomed Earth" and enjoying it, though her writing can sometimes be very dry.

In keeping with my "reading things I should have read years ago" streak I'm reading Anne of Green Gables for the first time.

it's a tome, but once it gets going, oh man... some lovely stuff in there. the family dynamic and character work is stunningly real. I weep openly reading this thing.
